Our Location
Beechwood Park is located on the outskirts of the village of Markyate, six miles west of Harpenden , Hertfordshire, very close the the border with Bedfordshire. Despite being just half an hour from London by direct train and in close proximity to the M1, St Albans and Berkhamsted, the School sits within an impressive 60 acres of parkland and woodland, making our location truly ‘the best of both worlds’.
Beechwood Park’s gardens were originally designed by Capability Brown, and these surround the stunning Georgian manor house which now forms the main school building. The School site incorporates sports pitches and a wonderful Forest School – consequently, sport and outdoor learning form a major part of school life at Beechwood Park.
With plenty of space for children to get outside and make the most of our fabulous setting, and breathtaking views, Beechwood Park offers the best of both worlds, combining a rural feel with the convenience of excellent road and rail connections. Most Beechwood Park pupils live locally to the School, with many making use our our school bus service at the beginning and end of each day.
Getting to Beechwood Park School
If you are approaching from the St Albans or Dunstable direction on the A5, you may find it easier to enter Markyate village via Hicks Road (where the footbridge runs across the road) and then cross the High Street into Pickford Road. If you are using satellite navigation, please key in Pickford Road rather than our postcode which on some older devices can be misleading! Please do NOT turn right into Roe End Lane but stay on Pickford Road until you reach the school gates.
