School Trips
At Beechwood, we believe that carefully selected school trips can provide a valuable additional dimension to the education of our pupils, and we aim to make trips, both day and residential, character building, relevant, informative, and fun!
For many adults, it is the recollection of school trips that remain clearest in our memories – the anticipation, the excitement of a coach journey and the prospect of a night away with our friends, and that moment when something that we have learnt in the classroom comes suddenly to life out of school.
Pupils from Reception upwards are able to participate in a diverse programme of day (and residential from Year 3) trips. In the course of these, children learn new skills, experience real world application of classroom learning, see history brought to life before their eyes and learn key life skills such as co-operation, independence and tolerance.
During their years at Beechwood, pupils will take part in a number of day trips which are usually connected to a part of the syllabus currently being studied, as well as several residential trips. These may involve museum and theatre visits, trips to national monuments, or residential trips; the latter include a cricket tour to Barbados, with the next trip departing in Summer 2023), a combined Classics / Modern Languages trip to Provence, and a whole host of UK trips during which pupils take part in a variety of teamwork challenges and cultural and physical activities.
